About Raynaud's Phenomenon

Normally, people are confused about these three names: "Raynaud's Phenomenon", "Raynaud's Disease", and "Raynaud's Syndrome".

The phenomenon in which, a disorder causing discolouration of the fingers, toes, and occasionally nose and earlobes is discussed; is known as Raynaud's Phenomenon. So, this includes both, Raynaud's Disease and Syndrome.

Further, Raynaud's Phenomenon is usually separated in two categories:

Raynaud's Disease (also known as "Primary Raynaud's phenomenon"), when there is no any other disease that caused the Raynaud's thingy.*

In this Raynaud's thingy, vessels that supply blood to the fingers and toes (the digits) contract. When this happens, blood can't get to the surface of the skin and the affected areas turn white and blue. When the blood flow returns, the skin turns red and throbs or tingles.

*1: As you might have suspected, the spelling of "Raynaud's Phenomenon" is long and pretty boring to type, so hereafter, we will call it "Raynaud's thingy".
No offence intended towards Dr.Maurice Raynaud.
